"Caution On The Side Of Caution!"
It seems like there has been more cautions this year, than any other? Both drivers and fans are complaining about all the yellow's. It was refreshing last week at Richmond to finally see some long green flag runs.
So why all the cautions?....Impound rule?...smaller spoiler?...the tires?...brakes?
"It's about competition, people are occupying the same space, that means people are going to run into each other!" - Michael Waltrip
For years, it's been a known fact...that the only reason some people watch, is for the NASCAR WRECKS period!
Have you ever had to tape a race and when you played it back, you would hit the fast forward button on your remote until someone wadded it up? Come on, admit it...yes, you have...(hand up)....guilty, your Honor!
Michael has a point...yeah, it is the competition...however, the rules have a hell of a lot to do with the competition...you have to question, whether all these rules from Nascar are for the TV viewers or the competition?
As all of us know, TV loves controversy. At one time, beating and banging, fender rubbing and bump passing were all accepted methods of getting ahead on the track. "Rubbing is Racing!" as the old saying goes.
It just seems like NASCAR has imposed so many rules, that the drivers are starting to become milk toast...."Mommie, he just bumped me with his race car!" Some drivers have become a bunch of pussies...any come to mind? (wink)
We won't get any Nextel Cup short track action until the end of August. There is only one more race until then... where we will get... beating, banging, fender rubbing and bump passing.
It's the Nextel Cup All-Star race this Saturday night in Charlotte. It's a no points, almost anything goes, dash for the cash...where the purse is over Three Million Dollars!.....Ready, Set, GO!
