Newman Nudges Burton For New Hampshire Pole
FINALLYNewman scores the pole at New Hampshire
By Greg Engle - Cup Scene Daily
It used to be that everyone expected Ryan Newman to win the pole. So much so that he had earned the nickname “Mr. Friday”. But it had been some time since Newman had lived up to those expectations. His 2006 season has been a depressing one so far, he has 3 DNF’s currently sits 18th in points. Newman also hadn’t won a pole since Dover in June.
Newman has returned to New Hampshire, the site of his last victory (last September), hoping to try and salvage a season that no doubt he’d rather forget.
Newman made a step in the right direction Friday laying down a lap of 129.683 miles per hour in 29.370 seconds around the 1.058-mile New Hampshire International Speedway, to win the pole for Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 300. more on Newman winning the pole
